“Just here please…”Michelle gulped when she recognized the safe-bay pullover that over looked a tree-cladded ravine behind the guard rail – he had sent her a picture of it so she would know.
“Y’sure this is yer stop, girl? Pretty far out of Rockwell for a young girl like yourself, heck, it’s pretty far out for anyone. You meetin a certain shady friend here?” the cab driver croaked, scratching his unkempt black 4 day shadow of a beard and looked back at her in the rear-view mirror
“No! my friend just lives far is all and this was the closest mutual place to meet…but I didn’t realize it was on the side of the road in the middle of freaking nowhere…” she instinctively wrapped her finger around one of her bangs and began curling it over and over ‘this is why your hair is so frizzy Michelle’ her conscience scolded her

“Well,” the cab driver cleared his scratchy throat “I don’t feel too good bout leavin you here on the side of the road but them giant folk aren’t too keen on us humans n our cars floatin bout on the road. Makes’em nervous and this road don’t have no human lanes” he shuffled his wide frame in the small seat, too uncomfortable to say it directly
“no, its fine, he won’t be much longer anyway, thank you – what do I owe you?” Michelle reluctantly let go of her bang and paid the driver then got out of the car, kind of happy she had decided on wearing heeled boots because the gravel that clad the area would have been a bitch in the stilettos she had on five minutes before she left – she always changed her mind at the last minute, in fact several time she typed to him that was wasn’t going to make it, but alas she made it – also because her friend practically shoved her into the taxi.
~~~~~ 3 days ago ~~~~~
“all you have been talking about is this damn Rueben all week yet have you set up a date? NOOO! Michelle the reason I put all my hard earned money into buying you a membership to this blind date app is because you were meant to actually MEET someone!” Akasha scolded her friend, pinning her down on the cold wooden floor of their shared flat.
“Akasha, the app was 99 cents, I’m sure your bank account can manage. BESIDES I’mmeetinghimthisfridaynight...” Michela murmured as she thrashed around underneath her smaller but stronger friend
“what?” Akasha pinned Michelle’s arms over her head and her black –over-straightened-straw-like hair tickled her Michelle’s nose
“I SAID WE ARE GOING OUT THIS FRIDAY!” Michelle used the fact that she had momentarily stunned her friend to overpower her and topple her over and itched her nose, letting out a sigh of relief
“Michelle!! That’s so exciting! Eeeeeeeeh!!!!! Finally you will have a man!” Akasha began to gush all over her, asking her a million questions and Michelle felt a pang of regret – she would rather be pinned down than gushed over.
~~~~~~
Michelle walked over to a thick branch that had fallen from one of the giant trees that decorated the side of the road. With a bit of a heave she managed to get up onto it and made herself comfortable, praying that Rueben wouldn’t be long on picking her up, ‘who KNOWS what kind of people meet here…’ she shuddered.
She opened her phone and checked the app to see if he had messaged, but all that was there was his message from 20 minutes ago saying he was on his way.
“I wonder what he looks like” Michelle wondered. Of course this wasn’t the first time she had thought about it but she figured since she was ACTUALLY meeting him she should probably stop thinking of him to look like Channing Tatum or Chris Pine; she didn’t want to be too disappointed.
She let out a deep sigh and kicked her legs, but her heart stopped when she heard a faint humming sound approaching. She was afraid for several reasons:
1. It could be Rueben
2. It sounded like a motor bike and she HATED motorbikes
3. She couldn’t tell if it was giant or human
4. It could be some crazy biker
5. It come be some crazy GAINT biker
She took labored breaths and kept her eyes glued on the sharp turn than hid anything until the last second. She gripped the wood hard and dug her heels into the bark when she realized it was in fact a motor bike – but not just motor bike – a GIANT motor bike. Which meant it wasn’t Rueben and whoever was on it was probably going to kill her.
Suddenly, like she had anticipated, a red motorbike came flying around the corner and to her complete and utter terror – pulled into the stopping bay a few yards behind her.
She clapped her hands over her ears and pulled her knees up to her chest. The very sound rattled her organs and she thought her ear drums were going to burst. Right before her ears started to bleed the engine turned off and all that was left was the sounds of heavy boots crunching on gravel.
In shear anger she whipped around and starred daggers and the unaware giant male. He had just pulled off his helmet and set it on the seat of his bike then leant against it and pulled out his phone.
“YOU RIGHT THERE MATE?!” she called out, fuming
His eyes lifted from the screen and he looked around searching for the voice he had just heard, his shaggy brown hair so long that it was beginning to cover his green eyes. He had a strong jaw, broad shoulders and was quite tall, even for a giant but he wasn’t very significant in other words – not washboard abs and biceps like guns like Channing or Chris. He was wearing a black leather jacket that seemed to fit quite snuggly around his frame and under than he wore a dark green shirt and black pants and heavy scary looking boots that clad his large feet and in that moment Michelle remembered he was a giant.
She quickly looked back up to him and sucked in a gasp when she noticed he was already staring at her. She shoved her bangs behind her ears and squinted up at him, he looked confused. He had furrowed brows and his mouth was in a straight line
“Yeah…I’m right?” he said in an unexpectedly deep voice. He crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes at her, but she didn’t falter
“well your stupid motorbike damn nearly made my ears bleed” she scoffed and tried to look as angry as possible – but let’s face it, she looked freaking fabulous in her outfit for her date so all she could manage was a sexy glare. (Well, these were her thoughts, anyway)
“And that’s my fault why?” he scoffed back and went back to looking at his phone
“uh…because it’s YOUR bike?!” She threw her hands up at him and spun herself around on the branch to face him
He seemed surprised that she was still going and with a small smirk playing on his lips he pocket his phone and focused his attention on her, trying to seem menacing
“Actually it’s your fault for being a human in The Brook. I have every right to ride my loud motor bike anywhere around here” he said matter-of-factly and with a smug smile, waited for her response
“oh my Gosh why are giants SUCH jerks?! Seriously it’s a free world and you should be more considerate” and with that Michelle spun around and crossed her arms

“Stupid entitled human snobby good for nothing priss”
“asshole idiot stupid biker giant thinks he’s the shit” they both muttered to themselves – but loudly so the other definitely heard.
Michelle was fuming and pulled out her phone wondering where the hell Rueben was so he could take her away from this asshole.

“The hell are you doing out here anyway, human” the giant’s increasingly annoying deep voice filled the silent air once again and Michelle sighed
“if you must know, I’m waiting for my date – he is so much better than you. I bet he is smart and handsome and drives a hybrid car because he cares about being safe and the environment AND he’s a human” she said happily, but still not giving him the pleasure of turning her gorgeous self around (again, her thoughts)
“What do you mean ‘you bet’? You don’t know him?” he asked, not judgmentally but genuine curiosity
Michelle’s eyes widened. Why did she say THAT?!
“Uhmm….” She mumbled “it’s a blind date?” she squeaked. She didn’t know him and hated him for bringing up all the thoughts she was trying to lock away. She felt embarrassed she was doing something so stupid
“huh.” Was all he said.
‘Seriously? Is that’s all he’s going to give me? That was way too vague. What, does he think I’m pathetic? WAIT why do I care what he thinks?!’ Michelle had inner turmoil and before she could stop herself she turned around and met his eyes
“‘huh’ what?” she asked, biting her lip.
“well I just found it funny because I’m waiting for MY blind date – who, by the way is probably way hotter and more fun than you – AND,” he mimicked her girly voice “she’s a giant” he smiled triumphantly at her, then went back on his phone.
“Oh whatever” Michelle scoffed and turned back around and pulled out her phone to open the app. She messaged Rueben, but he had beaten her to it:

“Where are you?” – Rueben13455
“HAH! See! He wants to know where I am!” she said teasingly and began to reply to him. If she had of turned around she would have seen the confused expression on the giant’s face, but it was short lived because he received a notification on his phone too.

“I’m where you said to meet. Please hurry up because there is this jackass giant harassing me  “– Michelle101
“You’ve got to be kidding me” he mumbled. He let out a deep sigh and ran a hand down his face before replying, watching the small human’s phone light up after it sent. He bit his lip as he watched her unlock it.

Michelle looked at her phone as it light up from receiving a message from Rueben
“I’m behind you” Rueben13455
She quickly perked up and immediately she turned around and looked behind her, but saw no one. She looked further back and saw the giant’s shoes. Her eyes trailed up to his face and he was already looking down at her, and he was giving her a very odd smile. He then gave her a short wave then crossed his arms across his broad chest
“Looks like they forgot a very important question on the app, Michelle101” he smirked down at her
“What? WHAT?! No…no nono...YOU are Rueben?” she frowned up at him and brought her legs around to properly face him
“Yup” he let out a deep chuckle and shifted his stance, leaning against his motorbike, but his smile was quickly wiped off his face when she put her head in her hands and her back seeming to be shaking…’is she crying?!’ he asked himself as alarm bells started going off inside his head
“A-are you actually crying?” he asked and pushed himself off the bike and stood up and furrowed his brows “I’m not that bad am I?”
“I was meant to meet a nice, sweet guy who I was going to have an amazing perfect date with! Not some giant cocky jerk!” she shouted up at him angrily, kicking her feet into the branch she sat on
“And I was meant to hook up with some hot chick but you don’t see me crying bout it, geeze” he scoffed, and when she didn’t reply he sighed. He wasn’t going to stick around now. He grabbed his helmet off the bike seat and put it on, kicked the stand up and began walking it over to the road and sat on it. Just as he was about to turn the key, he looked back at her – she was still crying. Then he looking around. It was the middle of nowhere, he couldn’t just leave her.
He groaned as he battled with himself internally then opened his helmet and looked back at her
“I’m leaving, and as much as you think I am, I’m actually not an asshole and I’m not just going to leave you here. Do you want me to wait till someone picks you up?” he asked, biting his lip, begging she would say no. he didn’t really feel like spending any more time around her.
She lifted her head from her hands but still wouldn’t look at him
“my date was supposed to take me home” she called back angrily.
‘Geeze you would think I tried to kill her the way she’s carrying on’ Rueben thought and rolled his eyes. ‘ guess I was a bit of an ass though’ he pinched the bridge of his nose and let out a deep, long, exasperated sigh before looking back over to Michelle – she was already looking at him this time.
“Well, come’re then” he tried to sound as nice as possible and gestured her to come with his hand
“what, why?” she asked softly and wiped her eyes
“because, whether you like it or not I’m your date and even though we aren’t going out I’ll still take you home. It’s the lease I can do since I’m apparently the biggest disappointment you have ever experienced. So get your butt over here” he said a little more playfully and waited for her response.
She had so many arguments running through her head that she didn’t know which one to say first. She opened her mouth to speak but he obviously saw her fighting with herself and stopped her
“Don’t even think about it, okay, just stop carrying on like a pork chop and come here. I promise I don’t bite.” He smiled charmingly at her and leaned over the side of the bike and placed his hand on the ground
before she knew what she was doing, Michelle was grabbing her bag and was walking to his hand.
It reeked of cologne and that reminded her that this Giant guy was meant to be Rueben, the guy she was meant to be going on a date with. The guy she had been talking to for a week. The guy she was already having strong feelings for even though they had never met.
“Uh, you gonna get on or just stare at how beautiful it is?” a voice from above caught her attention and she realized she had just been staring at his hand the whole time. She quickly shut her gaping mouth and jumped onto his palm – a feeling she was NOT used to living in Rockwell (a human town) her whole life, but she wasn’t about to let HIM know that.
She clenched her eyes shut and held her breath as his warm hand grasped around her and lifted her into the air. Luckily, before she knew it she was stationary again. She cracked open an eye and almost passed out when she realized he was holding her right in front of his face
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING!” she squealed and went bright red, her ears and cheeks growing hot, but he didn’t seem to notice
“gee, you really went all out for our date, huh?” he smirked
Michelle went an even darker shade of red as she felt his eyes all over her. She looked down at her outfit and bit her lip hard. She was wearing a white ¾ sleeved lace up top and black high pants with her black heeled boots. She wanted to look as hot as possible making sure her clothes perfectly accentuated all her features, but now she wished she was wearing the baggiest clothes she owned
“S-stop it! P-put me down!” she curled into a ball as she tried to cover herself, clenching her eyes shut
Ruben’s smirk left his face and he lowered her down from his face
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable…” he mumbled, his cheeks growing red themselves
“uh…” he quickly tried to change the subject “Looks like my pocket is the only option for you to sit – I wasn’t really panning on having a human passenger” he chuckled to lighten the mood
“yeah well I wasn’t planning on being held by a giant either” Michelle spat darkly, but with a mischievous smile, though it was short lived because she was being dumped into the chest pocket of his jacket, hitting the bottom with an ‘oof!’
“wow, five star treatment for your special guest” she scoffed but quickly latched onto his still-lingering fingers when the engine started up
“GIVE A GIRL SOME WARNING!” her chest heaved heavily. Rueben wriggled his fingers out of her grip and chuckled, mumbling some sort of apology before shutting his helmet
suddenly, he didn’t seem human or giant anymore, the helmet blocked his whole face from her and she didn’t like it. It made her feel unsafe.
“P-please don’t go to fast… I’m afraid of motorbikes!” she called out to him with a frown as she hugged her knees, laying in the pocket like it were a hammock
“Don’t worry Michelle101, I’m a pro” was all Rueben said before taking off at full speed, leaving Michelle’s stomach miles behind them and she let out an ear-piercing scream for a good 30 seconds. She could feel him chuckling beneath her, his deep voice vibrating through his chest.
“Smug stupid giant idiot” she scoffed and clasped her hands over her ears, being forced to stare up at the underside of his chin and helmet. She couldn’t wait to be home and snuggle into her warm bed and forget this all happened.
“Wait a minute….” She whispered to herself “I never even told him where I lived?”
She immediately sat up in the pocket and her breathing started to quicken. What was he going to do? Where was he going if he had no idea where she lived? Was he kidnapping her? Was he taking her to some random human town??
“Rueben!” she called out as loud as she could, hoping he would hear her, but he didn’t.
“RUEBEN!” she called louder and he briefly looked down at her
“What?” she heard his muffled voice through the hum of the motorbike and her hands which were still over her ears
“you don’t know where I live!” she could already feel her vocal cords straining at trying to get her voice over the motorbike’s engine
“Don’t need to, decided we’re gonna go on our date after all” he said in the most casual voice, still looking forward at the road
“WHAT?! I DIDN’T AGREE TO THAT!” she shouted at him, furious he was actually kind of kidnapping her. She grew even angrier when all he did to reply was shrug his shoulders.
“RUEBEN TAKE ME HOME!”
No reply. She knew he heard her but he was just choosing to ignore it. She let herself seethe with anger for a few more minutes before calming down. She realized that even though he wasn’t the human Rueben who was smart and handsome and drove a hybrid like she had hoped, this Giant, cocky version was undeniably intriguing and if anything, it would make for an exciting story to tell her girlfriends tomorrow.
The story of how she was blind-sided on her blind date.
Here is a one-off I did up yesterday and today. the concept has been in my head for ages and as much as I enjoyed  these two, this is the start and finish. just a short and sweet whirlwind and now I can say I have actually finished a story! usually my chapters are around 1000 words total and this as 3000 so we COULD say it is about the same as a 3 chapter story- ISH.

hope you like these two and please dont cry at the end, I ended it where it needed to end :'(

PS

I really liked the story and plot!!

Just some suggestions- Really be conscious of grammar and capitalization and punctuation, as well as maybe spaces between each paragraph and each line of dialogue. It's simple stuff, but really makes reading much smoother and easier on the reader.

But overall I liked it a lot! The situation was neat (and a favourite trope of mine- add g/t to that and I'm sold lol-) and I loved the banter between the two of them! ^-^
