Not just a Pet - Chapter 6

"Your birthday is today?" Julian asked, feeling guilty
"Yes, and so far it's been a blast...” Keely said sarcastically "But don’t worry, no one celebrates theirs pets birthday anyway" she spat
"Hey!" Julian said defensively "I always celebrate my pet's birthday" he continued
Keely rolled over and looked at him, tears still in her eyes, but said nothing

It broke Julian's heart her looking at him like that.
"I don't know what you want me to say, Keely" he said sadly
She looked down at the pillow "its fine, you don’t have to say anything" she said softly
"But I want you to be happy" he pouted
"It’s ok, I'm just a pet" Keely cried and put her hands over her face as she sobbed
"Keely you aren't just a pet" Julian sighed and reached over and lightly placed his hand over her, to which she flailed her legs about to push him off but it was fruitless. With a wince Julian carefully scooped her up in his hand and sat further up in his bed and placed her against his chest and cupped her with his hand, stroking her arm, silently
At first she tried to get out and push him away but eventually she gave in and relaxed a little in his hand.
Julian just sat there while she calmed, watching her, his heart hurting for her. He felt so guilty
"Maybe this wasn't a good decision...” he thought out loud
"What?" Keely asked with a hiccup
"Maybe coming you coming to live with me wasn't such a good idea, I mean, look at you" he said, nodding towards her
Her face scrunched up again as he said this and he immediately regretted it
"I'm sorry!" he said quickly "I didn’t meant it, I'm sorry, please stop crying, it's killing me" he sighed, looking away
"I'm sorry" she said quietly, and wiped her tears away
"Can we just not worry about this whole pet thing and just go to sleep?" he sighed
"Okay" she said quietly and began to try slide down his chest
"Hey," Julian stopped her "want to sleep there tonight? I kind of like the feeling of you being on me...plus, it’s your birthday" he blushed
"Uhmm...” Keely thought 'it does feel nice...' she said to herself
"Come on, you can't say no to this" he said, gesturing to his body
She giggled, making him smile
He turned off the TV and slowly shuffled down so he was on his back and placed his hand on top of her.
It was pitch black and she couldn’t see anything, and she jumped when his hand touched her, making him laugh
"Sorry" he laughed

After a couple minutes Julian let out a deep sigh
"Keely," Julian spoke up "I can’t sleep like this" he said sadly
"What do you mean?" she asked
"I always sleep on my side, I hate sleeping on my back" he admitted
"Oh ok" she said deflated
"Please stop being sad" he sighed
"I'm not..." she lied
"Come up here" he ordered
"What?" climb up to my face, Birthday girl" he said, playfully
"Why?" she asked, unsure
"You’ll see" he said, taking his hand off her and turning on his bedside light
"ok..." she said warily, and crawled across his chest, which elicited a laugh from the man beneath her, then all of a sudden the surface she was crawling on got really squishy "that tickles so much" he laughed, causing is Adams apple, which she happened to be sitting on top of
"Whoa!" she yelped, gripping his skin
"Ouch!" Julian winced, then started laughing again, causing Keely to once a again be jostled around by his Adam's apple
"Julian!" she giggled
"Sorry!" he laughed more, which didn’t help at all
Keely laughed and continued up his neck, all the while Julian laughing away
When she made it to his chin, she could feel his stubble, which she grabbed onto and pulled up
"OW! Keely!" Julian stopped laughing
"Sorry" she giggled, then put her hands flat on the top of his chin and hoisted herself up, and fell straight onto his lips, which made them immediately tighten, and Keely knew what was happening
"Julian don’t laugh or I will fall into- y-y-y-o-o-u-u-r -m-m-o-u-thhh -Ju-li-an!" she was being bounced up and down as Julian tried his best not to open his mouth as he as bursting out laughing
She quickly climbed on top of his nose and straddled it, laying down
Once she was off his lips Julian opened his mouth and laughed so hard Keely had to cover her ears, but she laughed along too. Keely could see the tears coming out of his eyes

Once he calmed down, he opened his eyes and looked into her eyes, a broad smile on his face, her laughing
"I love you, Julian" she smiled, not caring anymore about how he saw her
Julian smiled more sincerely
"You do?" he asked, also half avoiding saying what she was hoping
"Yes" she smiled
"Well I'm glad I'm doing something right" he smiled and scrunched up his nose, causing her to be moved up and down, making her giggle
She put her hands up to his eyes and he closed them, and she put her hands on his eye lids, stopping him from opening his eyes
"Hey!" he laughed
"What?" she giggled
She didn’t see his hand coming and squealed when he picked her up in two fingers and opened his eyes, dangling her over his face, smiling at her squirming playfully
Then, he started to lower her towards his mouth, at first she thought he was going to put her in his mouth, but then he pursed his lips and she realized...
He pressed her face/head/shoulders into his lips, kissing her, then placed her beside his face and he rolled onto his side to face her
She was bright red and had a little of his saliva on her face but she was mostly in shock. She hadn't expected him to do that! Her whole body was tingling and she had goose bumps
"Happy Birthday Keels" he smiled
"Thanks” she blushed deeply

Julian reached over her to turn the light off and pulled the covers on top of him
"Good night, my beautiful girl" he whispered
"Goodnight Julian" she said, smiling widely

'He kissed me!' was in her head until she fell asleep, with a smile on her face.
